Soon all the Diabetes Hospitals in the country will get broadband connectivity
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak has assured to start smart telemedicine facility by connecting to broadband internet in every center and hospital of more than two hundred diabetes hospitals spread across the country.
The state minister made this announcement by participating in a virtual meeting from his place, Singra in Natore District. The meeting took place at the Conference Room of BIRDEM Women's and Children's Hospital organized by the Diabetes Federation on Monday on the occasion of World Diabetes Day. He said, we will provide broadband connectivity, telemedicine and smart health management in every center of the diabetes association. By the year 2041, every citizen of the country should be made a healthy, non-communal, progressive and innovative smart citizen. For that we have to create awareness about diabetes, every citizen should be tested for diabetes and lead a systematic life for changing diet and lifestyle.
According to sources, a total of 15,444 community clinics of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will be provided with broadband internet connection under the project titled Establishment of Digital Connectivity (EDC) being implemented by the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology. Through this it will be possible to deliver health services at the grass root level.
The ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his gratitude to Frederick G. Banting and Charles H. It is known from the diabetes test survey in 2022 that one in ten people in the country has diabetes. In 2021-22, a study conducted on one lakh people by the Bangladesh Diabetes Association revealed that one in five people in the country is suffering from diabetes. 15 to 20-year-olds account for 4.4 percent of people with diabetes. Gestational diabetes 25.7 percent. That is, one in four people is affected by gestational diabetes. It appears that between the ages of 19 and 21, diabetes is increasing at a rate of 56 percent every two years, and the same number of people have pre-diabetes. It is estimated that if this continues, this number will double in 15 to 20 years and will create huge pressure on the health system.
